Lamborghini has announced that it plans to increase its overall sales to 3,000 units annually — 500 more than it sells now. But to achieve the increased sales goal, Lamborghini will not introduce new models but rely on the two it currently sells.

"We only sell 2500 cars annually in the world. One we should exhaust the existing potential before considering a third model in our range," Audi boss, Rupert Stadler, said. "We do not have a precise figure to be achieved but I think 3000 units is an annual figure achievable. Lamborghini is on the right track. "

Stadler continued by saying that he did not feel the Audi R8 would cannibalize Lamborghini sales because it is a higher volume vehicle — slated to sell about 4,500 examples per year.

Stadler failed to mention Lamborghini's specific plan to increase sales of its current models, but different variations on existing models — such as the SV and Reventon – should help the Italian automaker eek out a few more sales.
