Houston-based Hennessey Performance Engineering has finally revealed the first sketch of its upcoming performance concept car. Called Venom GT, the concept will house a powerful Venom 1000 Twin Turbo Viper V10 powerplant inside its light weight mid-engine chassis. The American company plans to make the Venom GT a decent competitor to VW's ultra-expensive Bugatti Veyron sports car

The company promises that, being 1500 lbs lighter than the Bugatti Veyron, the Venom GT will feature a stunning 2.7 lbs per bhp power to weight ratio and will be capable of accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds or even less. It will reach 300km/h in 14 seconds if Hennessey's estimates are correct.
Hennessey plans to build just a pair of Venom GT concepts to be shown to potential customers sometime in 2009. If the concept gets the positive publicity, the model will go into a limited production.
