BMW has released pictures and details of the long-awaited replacement for the M3 Convertible.

The new BMW drop-top is the fourth iteration of the M3 franchise and the third variant in the new range that will follow on from the M3 Saloon, which goes on sale in March.

The M3 Convertible uses the same 414bhp 4.0-litre V8 as the Coupe, enabling a 0-62mph dash to be completed in just 5.3 seconds, just half a second slower than the lighter Coupe. Like the Coupe, top speed is capped at 155mph.
