This is a Canadian truck and MUST have its headlines ON in daytime. In normal operation, you release the handbrake and the daytime running lights come ON.

A) April17 - Handbrake released but warning light stayed ON and the headlights did not come ON. Found out it was intermittent. A few days later when the engine was turned OFF the daytime running lights stayed ON even that the headlight switch was pushed IN. Had to disconnect the battery. Went to the dealer. Replaced daytime running light module 56021561. Checked brakes: No fault found at this time.

B) A few days later, and another 60 miles, I returned to the dealer because the handbrake light stayed ON when released and at the same time the ABS light was ON. As this was intermittent, sure enough when I arrived at the dealer everything was normal and they told me to come back.

C) June 11 - 275 miles later - Went to a closer dealer in Vancouver BC for the same reasons: They wrote:
"Check E-Brake, found ratchet seized up, brake switch bent, ABS wire damaged. Check fault codes. Correction: replace ABS sensor 04485165, replace brake light switch 04221463. Parking brake warning and ABS light is not ON anymore they wrote. "

Returning home, it started again, same scenario.

D) July 5 - 20 miles later - I brought the truck back to the same dealer and allowed a mechanic to use it over the weekend to try to trace the reason of the malfunction and returned on the 9th to pick up my truck.

E) July 12 - 20 miles later - Explained to the dealer: I had no daylight running lights and arrived at a 3rd conclusion that I have never seen before. It was also confirmed by a cop who stopped me for not having my lights ON.

With engine running or NO, handbrake released or NO:
- there is no more ABS light ON at all - no more
- the park brake light does not come ON at all and no daylight running lights now that the warning park brake light is out

I was able to talked to the mechanic and my only question was: did you made any change? He said NO. Curious.

The dealer said also that they worked 3 Hrs on my truck and that they will not charge me. Your truck is too old, they said

This truck has been serviced regularly by the 1st dealer and was in top shape.
I hardly use my truck in the spring and summer. In the Winter I am down S and out of the rain. This was going to be my last trip S due to age, pulling my 5th wheel. It's not going to happen. What will be the next condition of the truck? Break down on top of the Siskiyou Pass??
